Overview
Rockstar’s pre-release marketing for Grand Theft Auto VI repeatedly names major areas inside the fictional state of Leonida. This guide covers only the six regions published from official naming evidence in Phase 9 research: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Grassrivers, and Mount Kalaga National Park. Launch is November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
This is not a complete map guide. Rockstar has not published confirmed centroids or boundaries for these regions. Community map reconstruction—POIs, roads, and fan atlases—is a separate evidence class and is not elevated to official geography here. Previously rejected leak-derived place names remain unpublished as official claims.
Official naming versus community reconstruction
Official naming means Rockstar printed the exact string in hub marketing, Only in Leonida framing, Media screenshot titles, or artwork labels. All six regions below meet that bar via Rockstar Media screenshot sets and related VI hub materials.
Community reconstruction means fan or database placement of pins, polygons, or alternate spellings inferred from trailers and leaks. Those materials can help navigation after launch, but they are not Rockstar-confirmed boundaries. GTADB or wiki landmarks that shorten “Mount Kalaga National Park” to a different label are not reused as the official park identity.
Phase 9 published these six as mapless `place_kind=region` entries: official names without fabricated coordinates. Point locations such as Brian's Marina or Jason's House may sit inside a region narratively without proving a Rockstar boundary polygon.
The six Rockstar-named regions
Vice City
Vice City is the primary urban identity in Rockstar’s GTA VI marketing. The VI hub, Only in Leonida material, and Media screenshots titled Vice City present the city as the central metropolitan setting within Leonida. Official artwork such as Vice City Postcard reinforces the name. Character and business pages tied to the Vice City scene—such as Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, and Only Raw Records—use Only in Leonida framing, not invented district maps.
Leonida Keys
Official Media lists screenshots titled Leonida Keys. Character geography for Jason Duval and Brian Heder situates Keys-area life against the wider state. Developer comments indicate the story begins in the Leonida Keys, with Jason’s first trailer house there—see Safehouses. Point places such as Brian’s Marina and the community-labelled Jason’s House are documented separately.
Port Gellhorn
Rockstar Media publishes a titled screenshot set for Port Gellhorn, establishing the proper name as a distinct Leonida area identity. Detailed settlement inventories and exact map geometry are not claimed from those titles alone.
Ambrosia
Media screenshots titled Ambrosia establish the official spelling and marketing identity of the area. No Rockstar-confirmed centroid is asserted.
Grassrivers
Media screenshots use the single-word official form Grassrivers. Treat that spelling as canonical; do not “correct” it to a multi-word community variant in official-region copy.
Mount Kalaga National Park
Media screenshots titled Mount Kalaga National Park use the full park-style proper name. Ultimate Edition copy for the ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy also references Mount Kalaga backwoods framing in marketing language. This canonical region is distinct from any community landmark simply labelled “Mount Kalaga.”
How regions relate to systems and editions
Regions are setting identities, not gameplay unlock trees. Safehouse progression moves chapter bases—including a Keys start—without publishing a full region checklist as mission structure. Edition marketing may name destinations inside or near these areas (for example Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, or Mount Kalaga framing for the Dominator Buggy) without turning every marketing placename into a seventh “official region.”
District-scale marketing names that appear in Ultimate Edition or Only in Leonida copy—Watson Bay, Ocean Beach, Stockyard, Lake Leonida, Southside Vice City, and similar—may deserve their own location pages when Rockstar prints them, but they were not part of the six-region Phase 9 publish set. This guide does not silently promote every printed district into “official region” status equal to Vice City or Grassrivers.
Fog-of-war behavior—unexplored areas stay hidden until visited—is described at a high level in developer comments, similar to GTA V and RDR2. That is not a substitute for an official atlas. Heat Areas in the Wanted & Heat System are search volumes described by Nelson, not named regions on the Media screenshot list.
Reading official Media evidence correctly
Phase 9’s official-regions audit treated Rockstar Media screenshot titles as textual evidence of exact spelling: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga National Park. Matching artwork and hub geography framing support identity, not coordinates. Screenshot counts in research notes (multiple stills per region) show sustained marketing attention; they still do not yield polygons.
When community databases ship a landmark called “Mount Kalaga” without the National Park suffix, keep the official full title on the region page and treat the shorter label as a separate identity problem. When fan maps draw hard borders around Ambrosia or Port Gellhorn, label those borders community reconstruction unless Rockstar publishes matching maps.
Trailer and Extended Look footage can show coastlines, downtown cores, wetlands, or park terrain that look like these regions. Visual resemblance is useful atmosphere; it is not, by itself, a Rockstar-confirmed pin. Pair visuals with printed titles before asserting location identity in editorial copy.
Publication posture for this site
The six regions publish as mapless official places: name and evidence first, geometry later if Rockstar supplies it. Point locations nested narratively inside a region (marina, house, garage, shop) keep their own pages. Leak-derived map dumps and restricted photo sets are out of evidence policy for region identity—the same exclusion list used across Phase 14 guides.
What we still don't know
- Rockstar-confirmed boundaries, road graphs, and region centroids are not published.
- A complete hierarchical list of districts inside Vice City (or any region) is not established from the six-region audit alone.
- How many additional Rockstar-printed area names will appear before or after launch remains open.
- Community map completeness claims are out of scope; this site does not assert a finished Leonida atlas.
- Exact placement of every edition destination relative to region borders is unverified without official maps.
- In-game pause-map labels may differ in wording from Media screenshot titles; post-launch verification is required.
